Following a 22 year career in financial services, Mark has worked in the charity sector for the last 5 years. Within that time, he raised £1.2m for The Christie Hospital in Manchester.
Alongside a board of distinguished Trustees, Mark oversees the charity’s development, strategy and vision. Mark develops Challenge Cancer UK major corporate partnerships and, having taken part in numerous challenges, ranging from rafting down the Zambezi, to cycling from Saigon to Angkor Wat, Mark combines his fundraising experiences along with his personal experiences of cancer to head up the challenge events programme.
Deb Bate has supported the charity from its inception as our Financial Controller. Deb has a great deal of financial experience having worked for Barclays Bank for 28 years. During her time at Barclays, Deb also managed the £1.2million fundraising appeal for The Christie along with Mark Roberts. Deb looks after all the charity finances and is also responsible for compliance.
Emma manages the communications strategy for Challenge Cancer UK. Emma is responsible for branding, marketing and public relations and she also looks after our social media and online activity. Emma has planned and delivered marketing strategies for both companies and charities since graduating in 2003.
Laura is an experienced fundraising manager, with experience in events and corporate fundraising which she gained by heading up major fundraising teams for both national and local charities. Laura is responsible for developing the Challenge Cancer UK fundraising strategy and working with the team to develop new ways for individuals and companies to support Challenge Cancer UK.
James is our most recent recruit and has joined us to deliver our Cancer Prevention and Awareness Sessions in the workplace. James also works for the NHS and has a background in public health promotion.
